Vancouver Island is where Debate Camp Canada started, 13 summers ago. In 2015 we are excited to be returning, this time to the ocean-front campus of Brentwood College in Mill Bay - 35 minutes north of Victoria. Brentwood offers modern dorm, classroom, dining and theatre arts facilities.
DORMITORY & DINING
Campers at Debate Camp are housed in gender-separate dorms with Debate Camp Program Staff available on each floor. Rooms are furnished for 2 occupants. Roomate requests are available. Camper roomate pairings are otherwise determined by age group. Dining facilities are hotel-standard, with a selection of options at each meal. Dietary requests are accommodated with advance notice via the registration process.
RECREATION & OUTINGS
Debate Camp is well known for its balanced approach to learning. Admittedly, debating and public speaking are academic activities. The energy required for success here is often best served by some opportunities for thematic, fun and improv-type games. Recreation time and swim outings are organized for each day. Evenings often conclude with a campfire.
TRANSPORTATION
Debate Camp staff meet campers arriving via ferry, flight or at a designate pick-up location. On travel days, parents / campers can use the camp line to ensure campers meet camp staff at their desitination airport / ferry terminal. All shuttle buses are exclusive to Debate Camp and are supervised by camp staff. Parents are welcome to drop off campers at camp; ensuring they arrive by 5:00pm on Sunday, July 5th. Pick up is between 10:00am and noon on Saturday July 11th.
